Buying & licenses

Where do I find my license after I buy?

Your license appears in your account as soon as the order goes through. Your order confirmation email also includes the license key when the product ships with one. See Where to find plugin licenses.

Is there a demo version I can try?

Not for the plugins yet. Element Bass, Singularity Virtual Bass and SMG Cockblocker carry a 14-day refund window instead, buy it, try it, and if it isn't for you, ask for a refund. Extinction Level Event and Icon Drums can't be demoed at all; that's a limitation of Kontakt as a platform.

Do I need an iLok account or a dongle?

No. Element Bass activates with your Spectre Digital sign-in, Singularity and SMG Cockblocker with a serial, and the Kontakt libraries through Native Access. No dongles anywhere.

Can I move a plugin to a new computer?

Yes, email support@spectredigital.com with your order number and we'll move your activation.

Installation & activation

How do I activate my product?

It depends on the product:

  • Element Bass: open the plugin and sign in with the Spectre Digital account you bought with. Element Bass guide
  • Singularity Virtual Bass & SMG Cockblocker: open the plugin in your DAW and enter the serial from your purchase. Singularity guide · Cockblocker guide
  • Extinction Level Event & Icon Drums: add your key in Native Instruments Native Access. The Kontakt Player is included; you don't need the full version of Kontakt.
Where do I download installers and manuals?

Installers and user manuals are on the Downloads page. Extinction Level Event and Icon Drums aren't direct installers, they download and install through Native Access (Mac · Windows). MIDI packs are delivered as downloads in your account.

Will it work in my DAW?

Element Bass, Singularity Virtual Bass and SMG Cockblocker run in any DAW that loads VST3, AU or AAX plugins. Extinction Level Event and Icon Drums run in any DAW that supports the Kontakt Player (VST, VST3, AU or AAX). MIDI packs work in any DAW with MIDI tracks, which is nearly all of them.

Does anything run on Linux?

Yes, Element Bass and Singularity Virtual Bass run natively on Linux. Extinction Level Event and Icon Drums depend on the Kontakt Player.

Refunds

What is the refund policy?

14 days on Element Bass, Singularity Virtual Bass and SMG Cockblocker, regardless of the reason, even if you just wanted to try it and it isn't for you. MIDI packs are final sale, and so are the Kontakt libraries, Extinction Level Event and Icon Drums. Full terms: Refund policy.

How do I request a refund?

Email support@spectredigital.com with your order number within 14 days of purchase and we'll process it as quickly as possible.

My download is corrupted or the link stopped working

Download it again from your account at no charge. If a link has been deactivated, email support@spectredigital.com and we'll reactivate it. If a product genuinely won't run on your system, contact us within 30 working days of purchase, we'll work through it with you, and if there's no way to get it running we may issue a refund at our discretion.

Extinction Level Event & Icon Drums

Are updates free?

Yes. It doesn't matter when you buy ELE or Icon Classic Rock, you always get the latest version for free, from the smallest bug fix to the biggest feature addition.

Do I need the full version of Kontakt?

No. Both libraries run in the free Kontakt Player with no loss of functionality (Icon Classic Rock uses Kontakt Player 8). Download it from within Native Access when you install.

I bought it: how do I download and install?

Your license key is in your account (and in your order confirmation email). Download and installation are handled by Native Instruments Native Access: add your key there and it does the rest. Step-by-step: ELE on Mac · Windows. Coming from ELE 1.0? Read How to update ELE from 1.0 to 2.0.

How do I set up multiple outputs in Kontakt?

There's a guide for each DAW: Logic · Cubase · Pro Tools · Reaper · Studio One.

What are TCI files?

TCI files are built for Steven Slate Trigger 2.0. They let you accurately replace or augment an existing drum performance with ELE or Icon Classic Rock, dynamics intact. They're included with your purchase, look for them with your product downloads in your account, and email support@spectredigital.com if you can't find them.

Element Bass & Singularity

How do I activate Element Bass?

Open Element Bass (plugin or standalone), sign in with the Spectre Digital account you bought with, press Authenticate, your machine ID appears in the list, then close and sign in one last time. Screenshots in How to activate Element Bass. You don't need to stay online: it stays signed in for weeks as long as you're online once in that window, and it signs you back in automatically.

How do I activate Singularity Virtual Bass?

Open Singularity inside your DAW and enter the serial from your purchase. That's it. See How to activate Singularity Virtual Bass.

Why would I want more than one channel for my bass?

You can get good results with a single channel, but you'll always sacrifice low end doing it. Split the bass into at least two chains, lows and mids/highs, and you get all the tone and distortion you want while the low end stays clear and punchy.

What bass was Singularity sampled from, and how low does it go?

A Kiesel Custom 5-string. The lowest playable note is B-1, a full octave below a traditionally tuned 5-string.

Does Singularity need Kontakt?

No. Singularity is its own plugin, load it straight into your DAW as VST3, AU or AAX on Mac, Windows or Linux. No Kontakt required.

MIDI packs

What are groove packs, exactly?

Collections of drum grooves, beats and fills, and, in Blackened, bass lines too, written and performed by session players. Load them into your drum library and you get realistic drum parts written to work with your own music, not loops you have to fight.

Do I need Extinction Level Event, Icon Drums or Singularity to use them?

No. Every pack includes Standard General MIDI versions, so the grooves play back in any drum sampler or bass instrument. They also ship with mappings optimized for our own libraries, and that combination is hard to beat for realism.

Can I use the grooves at a faster or slower tempo?

Yes. The BPM range on each pack is a suggestion for where the grooves sit best. Because they're MIDI files, not audio, there's no loss in quality when you change the tempo.

Is a sampler included, and how do I get the files?

No sampler or library is included, packs contain the MIDI files (Blackened also includes audio stems), compatible with all popular third-party samplers. The files are delivered as downloads in your account after purchase.
